The property Tanner acquired includes two buildings; the larger building is 23,000 square feet, while the smaller building is 4,300 square feet.
“We needed some general office space for some non-clinical departments, and this property became available,” said Larry Steed, executive vice president and chief administrative operations officer, Tanner Health System. “It was an excellent building in a location that was acceptable to us in respect to our main campus here in Carrollton.
“Right now, we expect that our accounting department will occupy the space, as well as our human resources department and some other offices related to our patient financial services department,” he said.
Steed said he expects that as many as 60 Tanner employees will be working from the location, which will further help support local businesses downtown.
“With more people stationed downtown as their primary office, I’m sure you’ll find more people visiting local shops and restaurants in that area,” he said.
Some modifications to the building’s interior are being made to help Tanner achieve the best use of space for the departments that will be moving there. Tanner staff is expected to begin occupying the building within the next six months, according to Steed.
