Police have arrested a Carrollton man believed to have been involved with the robbery of a local gas station last month.

Lytrez Harrison, 19, was arrested last week and has been charged with robbery, participation in street gang activity and burglary.

Capt. Jeff Richards with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office said investigators had determined Harrison was a suspect in the January robbery of the South Park Street Texaco, but did not release his identity during the initial release.

Both Harrison and his alleged accomplice, Charles Douglas Elder, 17, of Villa Rica, were denied bond in their first appearance hearing.

A 16-year-old juvenile from Villa Rica was also arrested for the offense.

Police were called to the Texaco convenience store in the early-morning hours of Jan. 21 after two men entered the station shortly before 2:30 a.m. and allegedly demanded the cashier empty the register.

Elder is accused of acting as a lookout for the crime, while the juvenile allegedly punched the female clerk in her right eye before emptying the register of its cash. Both men were wearing red bandanas over their faces.

At the time of the crime, Dobbs said the department's K9 unit had tracked the two men through a field south of the station toward Cross Creek Apartments on Brock Street when the dogs lost the men's scents.

Harrison is believed to have been driving a getaway car that was parked at or near Cross Creek Apartments.

As for the reason why the two men and one juvenile were eventually arrested, Richards said deputies responded to a residence in Villa Rica about a month later after an alleged burglary had taken place.

The investigators were able to recover items allegedly taken in that burglary by the two males, as well as other items believed to have been taken from other robberies.

The two made an admission to the Texaco robbery while being interviewed by CCSO investigators, Richards said. Elder and the juvenile also gave information to the authorities that led them to Harrison.
