Carrollton Police seized approximately $22,000 worth of drugs Tuesday afternoon. Five men were arrested and charged with planning to sell the narcotics.
Keon Bailey, 27, of Carrollton; Ernest Clark III, 27, of Atlanta; Keith Lamont Freeman, 26, of Carrollton; Clifford Lowe Jr., 26, of Carrollton; and Steven Thomas, 26, of Carrollton were arrested and charged with trafficking in crack cocaine, trafficking in powdered cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Thomas was also charged with possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime.
At 2:45 p.m., officers with the Crime Suppression Unit went to 526 Harmon Ave. and allegedly found small amounts of marijuana in the possession of the individuals arrested.
“Several of the individuals had been under investigation for a year,” said Capt. Chris Dobbs.
A search of the wooded area around the house allegedly turned up a pillow case with several pounds of marijuana and a SpongeBob Squarepants backpack containing cocaine and crack. Officers also seized three digital scales, a gun, $1,700 in cash, and some prescription pills.
“This was going to our local drug sellers and users,” said Dobbs. “It’s good to get this amount of drugs and to get it off the streets.”
