The Haralson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested and charged a Tallapoosa man and woman with criminal attempt to manufacture methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine after discovering an alleged meth lab.
Vennis Jason Ferrell, 43, and Vinnie Mae Ferrell, 54, were arrested on Aug. 15 after Sheriff’s Office investigators searched Vennis Ferrell’s residence located at 2911 Providence Church Rd. in Tallapoosa.
According to Investigator Rhonda Everitt, an alleged meth lab was located in a shed on the property. Chemicals used in the manufacture of meth and various quantities of the drug were allegedly found during the search.
“I commend all the officers involved in bringing the investigation to a satisfactory conclusion,” said Sheriff Eddie Mixon. “The officers acted quickly to develop the information received and moved to put an end to the operation of the lab and apprehended those involved.”
According to Everitt, Sheriff’s investigators acted after receiving complaints regarding suspicious activity taking place at the residence. Officers then obtained permission to search the residence, leading to the arrests. The Haralson-Paulding Drug Task Force then moved in to clean the alleged meth lab and secure the dangerous chemicals.
“While we realize that the meth problem will never be totally eliminated, we will continue to do our best in combating the problem in our county,” Mixon said. “I greatly appreciate the cooperation received from the public, and I encourage citizens to contact the Sheriff’s Office and Drug Task Force with any information on illegal activity.”
