JOHN DOAK III

John E. Doak III, 53, of Carrollton died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at his residence.

Mr. Doak was born February 7, 1956, in Joliet, Illinois, the son of the late John Doak Jr. and Linda Sheeler Doak.

He worked in construction most of his life and was a member of Bethany Christian Church. Mr Doak was also a Master Mason, a member of Tyus Lodge # 671 F&A.M., Past Master of Golden Isle Lodge # 707 F&A.M. and was a member of the Alee Shrine Temple.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Shoemake Doak; son and daughter -in-law, John Doak IV (Melani), Carrollton; daughter and son-in-law, Carla Morris (Damon), Carrollton; grandchildren, Amy Doak, Tyler Morris, and Emily Morris, all of Carrollton; brothers, Robert John Doak, Brunswick, Paul Doak, Alaska, Eric Doak, Kevin Doak, Brunswick; sisters, Laurie Kline, Alaska, Penny Schikora, Alaska, Betsy Campagnola, Colorado, Marie Minter, Waynesville, Ga.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 25, 2009, at 11 a.m. from J. Collins Funeral Home with Minister Allen Howard officiating. Pallbearers include John Doak IV, Wade Suddeth, Tyler Suddeth, Kevin Suddeth, Damon Morris, and Shane Shoemake. Members of Tyus Lodge will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In accordance with the family’s wishes the body will be cremated following the service.

Evelyn Williams

Evelyn Dacy Williams, 79, of Antioch, Tenn., died April 22, 2009, after a long illness.

She was a member of Fatherland Baptist Church.

She is survived by her very close friend of 27 years, Gus Henkel; daughter, Paula (Sam) Larkin, Woodbury; Tenn.; sons, Allan R. Williams, Antioch, Tenn., and Tommy H. Williams, Carrollton, Ga.; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and two brothers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Williams; brother, Bobby Sprewell; sister, Bamah Wood.

A graveside service and interment will be Monday, April 27, at 2 p.m. at Carroll Memory Gardens with Rev. Wesley Boatman officiating. Pallbearers will be Dennis Sprewell, Roy Sprewell, Leldon Sprewell, Sidney Sprewell, Morgan Wood and John Hobbs.

The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Breast Cancer Research or Alive Hospice at St. Thomas in Nashville, Tenn.

JOE MARKS

Joe Allen Marks, 66, of Waco passed away suddenly April 24, 2009.

Mr. Marks was born on Feb. 5, 1943, in Cleburne County, Ala., the son of the late Roy D. Marks and Pauline Adams Marks. He was a retired foreman of Georgia Power Company, a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Fist Baptist Church of Bremen.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Hulsey Marks; daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Scott Redding of Temple; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Dianne Marks of Clearwater, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Bailey Redding and Colby Redding of Temple.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 25, between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 26, 2009, at 2 p.m. from The Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Brannon officiating. Caleb Williamson, Keith Marks, Craig Marks, Billy Wilkerson, Wesley Clackum and Blake Morris will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Jean Walton Craft, 75, of Shady Grove Road, Carrollton, died Friday, April 24, 2009.

Funeral services will be Sunday, April 26, at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church.

BESSIE MORRIS

Bessie Mae Morris, 76, of Whitesburg died Thursday, April 23, 2009.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 27, at 11 a.m. at the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with the Rev. Alton Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Northview Cemetery in Cedartown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 26, from 4 to 8 p.m.

DANNY SMITH

Danny Lee Smith, 52, of Douglasville died Thursday, April 23, 2009.

Mr. Smith was born Dec. 23, 1956, in Fulton County, the son of the late Roland Grey Smith and Mary Parker Smith. He was a crane operator for Quality Posting and Pentecostal by faith.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Ray Smith; sons and daughter -in-law, Jeremy Smith, Steven Lee Smith, and Chris “Pee-Wee” and Kandi Smith, all of Douglasville; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Linda Irene Smith of Lithia Springs; sisters, Linda Nell Johnston of Pine Mountain, Brenda Smith of Lithia Springs, Rebecca Smith of Lithia Springs; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 25, at 7 p.m. from J. Collins Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Mrs. Ann Goodwin officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 3-7 p.m.

TONY E. YATES

Tony E. Yates, 54, of Lankford Loop, Temple, died Thursday, April 23, 2009.

Mr. Yates was born in Carroll County on Sept. 29, 1954, the son of Sidney Curtis Yates and Frances Folds Yates.

He was a team leader with Georgia Power where he had worked for 30 years, and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Jean M. Yates; daughters and son-in-law, Meagen and Monoleto Thompson of Villa Rica, Emily Yates of Carrollton; step-daughter and her husband, Jennifer and Chris Turner of Bowdon; parents, Sidney and Frances Yates of Carrollton; sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Joe Harris of Roopville; and sister-in-law, Dr. Virginia Yates of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Sue Yates, Linda Dale Yates; and brothers, Terry S. Yates and Timothy Curtis Yates.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 25, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home in Carrollton with Mr. Rocky Rochester and close friends officiating. Pallbearers will be Johnny Rowell, Mike Johnson, Gary Cole, Terry Jackson, Calvin Word and Don McKenzie. Honorary pallbearers will be Rayford Garrett, Nick Johnson, Greg Massey, C.C. Bridges, Roy Ayers, Dwayne Wilson, Jimmy McKenzie and Georgia Power employees.

Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens.
