Advance voting for the three candidates in the District 19 Georgia House of Representatives special election will be at four locations in Paulding Feb. 15-19: the Election Office in Watson Government Complex, Mt. Tabor Park, Russom Elementary School and Hiram Community Center.
Three Republicans qualified last week: Ronny Sibley of 231 Indian Lake Court in Hiram, Daniel Stout of 102 Cypress Drive in Dallas and Jody Cash of 37 Harlin Drive in Dallas. All listed party affiliation as Republican. The special election to finish the House term of former speaker Glenn Richardson, who resigned, is nonpartisan, but candidates’ party affiliation will accompany their names on the ballot.
Advance voting at the four sites is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Voters can also request an absentee ballot from the Board of Elections Office in Watson Government Complex through Feb. 19, and absentee ballots must be returned by the close of polls Feb. 23, when regular voting is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the 14 precincts in District 19. Absentee ballot request forms can be downloaded at www.sos.ga.gov/elections
If none of the candidates has more than 50 percent of the vote, a runoff will be March 23.
Residents unsure of their House district can visit the Georgia Secretary of State Web site and enter information into Poll Locator. Residents in Howard Maxwell’s District 17 will not vote in this special election.
