How do you want Haralson County to grow? The Haralson County Chamber of Commerce wants to know.

A Citizens Count Survey is now available on the Chamber’s web site www.haralson.org to collect opinions on the future growth of Haralson County.

Surveys will take around 10 minutes to fill out and contain around 15 questions. Those filling out the surveys will be anonymous.

“It will be asking them the type of things they would like to see in terms of different business and industries and will also give them the opportunity to put their own personal comments,” English said.

The Citizens County online survey lasts until May 30, and the Chamber’s goal is to receive 3,000 surveys. Once complete, survey information will be shared with city and county employees.

“We want to know, ‘What are people thinking?,” and then be able to communicate that to the people that can actually use that information,” English said.

Hard copies of the survey will be available at the Chamber of Commerce. On March 20 and 27 and April 3 and 10, surveys will be distributed and collected at Wal-Mart in Bremen.

Community Circle Meetings are also being planned for groups interested in getting together and discussing the future growth of Haralson County. The meetings will be conducted by one of the trained facilitators who will establish ground rules and record results of the discussions.

“An important part of this is to stimulate us talking about these things. People have a lot of different opinions about growth in this community,” English said, adding that meetings are well-suited for neighborhoods, churches, businesses and civic groups.

“If you have a group of people that you’d like to get together just to have a discussion, then let us know and we can send a couple facilitators that will bring the surveys and ... they’ll also facilitate some discussion about the different possibilities,” she said.

If anybody is interested in receiving training as a facilitator, contact the Chamber. The survey is being lead by the a group of alumni from the Leadership Haralson Class of 2009.
