Buchanan Farmer’s Market
Vendors and shoppers are welcome to the Buchanan Farmer’s Market opening day on Thursday, April 29, from 7 a.m. to noon and every Thursday through the fall. There is a $5 fee for vendors to cover advertising costs. Fresh and locally grown produce will be available, as well as concessions, at the Buchanan Methodist Church parking lot, on the corner of Georgia Highway 120 and U.S. Highway 27. HC Senior Center
The Haralson County Senior Center holds aerobics at 10 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. There is also BINGO at 10 a.m. every last Tuesday of the month sponsored by Southern Traditions.
Sewell luncheon

Bremen BRIDGE Festival to Help Combat Drug Usage in West Georgia 5K Race registration and sponsorship opportunities are available now. Candle Light Vigil
April is National Child Abuse Prevention month, dedicated to the many children who live with abuse and neglect every day. Join us as we come together for the Light of Hope candle-lighting ceremony to remember the plight of Haralson County’s abused, abandoned and neglected children. Ceremony will be at 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, in front of the Haralson County courthouse on the square.
HC Gifted Assoc.
The Haralson County Gifted Association will be meeting at 6:30 p.m., Monday, April 19, in the Georgia Power Building in Tallapoosa. Anyone with an interest in supporting the gifted children and program in Haralson County is invited to attend. We will be discussing fundraising options, including business or corporate sponsorship, to send our gifted teachers to the National Association of Gifted Children annual convention this November in Atlanta! We will also be accepting nominations for officers for the 2010-11 school year.

Kindergarten Pre-Registration
2010-2011 Pre-Kindergarten Registration for Haralson County Schools will be held May 3 through 7 from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day. To register, you must bring the child’s birth certificate and proof of residency. Ballroom Dancing
Grab a partner and join us for Dance Classes on Mondays. Session I begins on May 3 from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. for four weeks at Sewell Mill. The cost of the class is $30 per person per session, and the instructor is Debra Cleckler. Session I will be the Waltz, Fox Trot and Two Step. Book Club

Osteoporosis program
“Dinner with a Doctor,” a program on prevention and treatment of osteoporosis will be held at the Temple Senior Center on Rome Street from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on May 13. The cost is $5, which includes a light, calcium-rich meal, the program, screening and handouts. The program features Sharon Baker, BSN, MN, and Dr. Kelvin Burton. The Bremen Senior Center members will preform the play “Mama’s House” on May 6, 7 and 8, at 7 p.m. at Sewell Mill. Tickets cost $5 and are available at the Bremen Senior Center.
Flowers on the Square
Flowers on the Square, a day of community service, is being held April 24 from 9 a.m. to noon. Everyone is invited to help clean up and beautify the City of Buchanan. Should bring their gloves, tools and a friend. Flowers will be planted in the planters and hanging baskets, and two service projects off the square will be offered to participants. Arrive at 9 a.m. to choose your service site.
Downtown Bremen

HC Trout Fishing Rodeo
It is once again time for the planning and preparation for the 29th Annual Haralson County Trout Fishing Rodeo that will be held on Saturday, May 8. We are in the process of compiling items for the 1,500 goody bags that we will give away on the day of the event. If you or any Chamber Member has items that are suitable for children up to the age of 15, the Wildlife Club would gladly accept them. Tall Tales Writing Contest
Warren P. Sewell Memorial Library of Bremen announces the 6th Annual Tall Tales Writing Contest for middle school and high school age students. Applications and topics are now available. Essays and applications should be turned into the library no later than Saturday, April 24. Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in 6th - 7th, 8th - 9th, and 10th - 12th grade age groups. Drugs Don’t Work Seminar
Please join us on May 5 for a Drugs Don’t Work Seminar featuring Chuck Wade, President and CEO of The Council on Alcohol and Drugs. Mr. Wade has been the state director of Drugs Don’t Work in Georgia for the past 13 years. He won awards from the DEA and from the FBI for outstanding service in the field of law enforcement. Learn about the benefits of and how to become a certified drug-free workplace. Certified drug-free workplaces in Georgia receive a 7.5 percent discount on workers’ comp insurance premiums.
