Spaghetti dinner
There will be a spaghetti dinner on April 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Temple High School cafeteria. Cost is $5 per plate and includes spaghetti, salad, drink, French bread and dessert. Eat in or take out. All proceeds go to the band students.
Buchanan Farmer’s Market
Vendors and shoppers are welcome to the Buchanan Farmer’s Market opening day on Thursday, April 29, from 7 a.m. to noon and every Thursday through the fall. There is a $5 fee for vendors to cover advertising costs. Fresh and locally grown produce will be available, as well as concessions, at the Buchanan Methodist Church parking lot, on the corner of Georgia Highway 120 and U.S. Highway 27. Ballroom Dancing
Grab a partner and join us for Dance Classes on Mondays. Session I begins on May 3 from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. for four weeks at Sewell Mill. The cost of the class is $30 per person per session, and the instructor is Debra Cleckler. Session I will be the Waltz, Fox Trot and Two Step. Book Club

Osteoporosis program
“Dinner with a Doctor,” a program on prevention and treatment of osteoporosis will be held at the Temple Senior Center on Rome Street from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on May 13. Bremen Senior Center Play
The Bremen Senior Center members will preform the play “Mama’s House” on May 6, 7 and 8, at 7 p.m. at Sewell Mill. Tickets cost $5 and are available at the Bremen Senior Center.
Bremen Big Bark Festival

HC Trout Fishing Rodeo
It is once again time for the planning and preparation for the 29th Annual Haralson County Trout Fishing Rodeo that will be held on Saturday, May 8. We are in the process of compiling items for the 1,500 goody bags that we will give away on the day of the event. Drugs Don’t Work Seminar
Please join us on May 5 for a Drugs Don’t Work Seminar featuring Chuck Wade, President and CEO of The Council on Alcohol and Drugs. Mr. Wade has been the state director of Drugs Don’t Work in Georgia for the past 13 years. He won awards from the DEA and from the FBI for outstanding service in the field of law enforcement. Learn about the benefits of and how to become a certified drug-free workplace. Certified drug-free workplaces in Georgia receive a 7.5 percent discount on workers’ comp insurance premiums. Golden Years Club
21st Century Leadership Ekklesia of Jesus Christ will hold registration for their Biblically based senior citizen program, The Golden Years Club, from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. June 14, 313 Mt. Zion Street, Bremen. Programs include informative sessions on breast cancer, prostate cancer, pain management and healthy eating habits. Beard Contest
As part of the sesquicentennial celebration we will have the longest beard contest. The contest will take place at the fashion show at 6 p.m. Sept. 3. The categories of awards will be Best Groomed, Longest, Fullest and Most Original beards. We would welcome all that are able to take part. To encourage participants, the beard contest we will also have the Tallapoosa Clink. The Clink is a Jail that will hold all those who do not have a beard. We will have permits for sale at city hall closer to the event. Any man that purchases a permit will need to keep that permit with him throughout the weekend to keep from being placed in the Tallapoosa Clink.
WHES Council Meeting
West Haralson Elementary School Council Meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 10, in the WHES Multipurpose Room. All parents and guardians are welcome. We will be holding elections for new parent council members for the upcoming 2010-11 school year. Please attend the May meeting and let your voice be heard.
A Taste of Chocolate

Annual Food Drive
The National Association of Letter Carriers Annual Food Drive will be Saturday, May 8. Please leave non-perishable items in your mail box! All proceeds will benefit two local food banks, Haralson Ministries and Kingdom Rock Family Food Bank.

Bremen High School Honors
Bremen High School Honors Night will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18. Academic awards, perfect attendance, scholarships, and other awards will be presented. All parents and friends are invited to attend. Event location will be announce at a later time.
Haralson County Senior Center
The Haralson County Senior Citizens is taking reservations for an October trip to Branson, Mo. Contact Rhonda at Senior Center in Buchanan 770-646-2029. We would like to have sign ups complete by June 10. The center also hosts Aerobics at 10 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The center plays bingo at 10 a.m. every last Tuesday of the month and is sponsored by Southern Traditions.

Haralson Co Prayer Breakfast
On May 6, the Haralson County Chamber of Commerce and the Haralson County Ministerial Association are co-hosting the seventh annual Haralson County Prayer Breakfast. It will be held at Sewell Mill, 126 Hamilton Avenue, Bremen, GA (across the street from Callie’s Alley) on Thursday, May 6. Child Care Provider Meeting
The Haralson County School System will host a meeting of child care providers in Haralson County to discuss options for Monday Care for the 2010-2011 school year on May 6 at 8:30 a.m. at the Technology and Transportation Building in Buchanan. The T&T Building is the old board office located at 10 Van Wert St. Any child care providers wishing to participate in the meeting are welcome to attend. Breakfast will be provided.
