Both State Sen. Bill Hamrick (R-Carrollton) and State Rep. Tim Bearden (R-Villa Rica) are supporting Nathan Deal in his runoff race against Karen Handel for the GOP gubernatorial nomination.

“I’m supporting Nathan Deal,” Bearden said Monday. “He has the NRA (National Rifle Association) endorsement and he’s been talking about jobs and getting people back to work.”

“I believe he’s the most conservative candidate and will be a good governor,” Hamrick said. “He will work well with the legislature.”

However, both Bearden and Hamrick said they will support Handel if she wins the runoff.

State Rep. Bill Hembree (R-Winston), chairman of the House Rules Committee, said last Friday he is comfortable with supporting either candidate.

“I think both are excellent candidates and would represent Georgia well as governor,” Hembree said. “I think both have great ability and will take Georgia in the right direction.”

to Ladylacy - I doubt your a conservative, probably one of those so called "independents"

(who don't really know what they stand for).

I guess it is just to bad the unborn don't get a personal choice to live or not.

Make no mistake about it. Handel is not pro-life in every aspect of the word. But apparently she is pro-gay!

The fact that she isn't educated probably appeals to people like Ladylacy. A Governor without a college degree is just what we need in a State where our public education system falls short of just about every other State -including Alabama.

I would vote for Karen Handel anyday over Nathan Deal. But this being the South, the good ole boys won't let a woman get elected because they are afraid she will out do them. As far as sign the paper on right to life, that is a personal decision for any woman. It is not the right of anyone else to tell a woman want she can and cannot do to her body. The last time I looked, we all were supposed to be free to make our own choices.

Well Beardens support convinced me to vote for someone else,,,as far as I am concerned I haven't had a full explanation of the work he did for Carrollton to garner all that money, so a recomendation from Bearden tells me to vote for someone else also I don't see much on record for Bearden doing anything, or putting forth anyting in Atlanta for the common hardworking tax paying folks, just small business, so he's lost my vote...

Handel was the only Republican candidate for governor who would not sign the GA Right to Life's pledge to protect unborn babies. She says she is pro-life, but if that is the case why didn't she sign the pledge?

Handel is obviously a "moderate" conservative. She would be the 2nd choice of liberals if they couldn't get Barnes elected.
