Carrollton police have recovered a body believed to be that of missing 21-year-old University of West Georgia student along Laurel Road.
Capt. Chris Dobbs said the body, believed to be that of Marcelle Elliott, was found around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The body was transferred to the GBI Crime Lab awaiting positive identification. Police have charged Joshua Clay, 31, and Farrah Strength, 29, both of Carrollton with murder in connection to the crime. They were being held in the Carroll County Jail Thursday afternoon.
Strength reportedly admitted her role and informed police where they would find Elliott’s body. Authorities are not releasing the motive until all evidence is collected.
Dobbs said Elliott and Strength were good friends until about a year ago.
Strength allegedly lured her to Carrollton last Thursday.
Dobbs said police were initially led to the suspects by the victim’s phone records and Strength had been through several interviews before she admitted her actions last night.
This city has great potential, but not if the leadership of the city and the police department don't take advantage of it. I pay taxes, but I see them not all going to, what I consider, the best use for the highest return. Take the swampland we've bought from Ben Hobbs...that land isn't worth a fraction of the price we paid for it. It's small town politics at its worst, it's who you know and/or what you know on them.
The guy said "many (not all) of the CPD's finest" have attitudes and display arrogance. I must agree. Arrogance is not acceptable. An attitude is not acceptable until and unless the officer is put into a situation where it is inevitable. If they can't suppress that atttitude and arrogance when needed, they need to find another line of work. I agree, we don't pay them enough. Who does make enough now? I know I don't, yet I'm expected to do more for less too.
I also have to say that I think the district attorney's office and the courts are highly to blame. What is the answer???????
What did the CPD do? Did they even believe the Dad when he told them the girl was missing? Did they start a community-wide search for the girl? I didn't even know about it until the 6th day after her disappearance. Why not? Why did the Dad have to do the detective work and look at all the numbers on her cell phone?
Just what the hell do they do all day? The bike patrols seem to be the most visible of all...I don't see how they do it in this heat. I see a few cars and motorcycles tracking down vicious speeders at the Dairy Queen and when something happens like a wreck, God forbid, the sky lights up....but they are all coming from the police headquarters building. What is it they do in there all the time? What do motorcycle cops have to do in the headquarters ALL DAY LONG?
Why not call the City Hall and ask for better utilization of our force. The main number is 770-830-2000 and the police department is 770-834-4451. This is our community...get involved or kiss it good-bye!!!!!!!
