Mr. Billy Ralph Lanier of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013. He was 65.

Mr. Lanier was born on August 20, 1947, to Daisy Wiggins Lanier and the late Curtis R. Lanier. Mr. Lanier was a graduate of Bowdon High School and was employed at Trintex Company in Bowdon from 1965 to 1979. While at Trintex, he attended West Georgia College to pursue a degree in History with a minor in Business and Marketing. In 1979, he began working at Sony Music in Carrollton and work there for 23 years, at which time he retired. After retiring from Sony, Mr. Lanier went into the used car business and worked in that field until 2007 when medical reasons caused him to once again retire. Mr. Lanier was a wonderful grandfather and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities. He was a soft-spoken man who loved people and always saw the best in everyone. He greeted everyone he met with a smile and kind words. He will be greatly missed in this community and will be forever cherished by his family. He was member of Corinth Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis R. Lanier; and his brother, Buren “Buddy” Lanier.

Survivors include his mother, Daisy Lanier; his daughter and son-in-law, Hope and David Bailey; his grandchildren, Brady and Brylee Bailey; his sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Terry Cosper; his niece, Cindy Cosper Brown; and his great-nephews, Josh, Nic, and Jeffrey Brown.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Rainwater Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Wiggins and Rev. Ed Grooms officiated. In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Lanier’s body was cremated.
