Mr. Tirella was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 11, 1925, the son of Carmello Tirella and Anna DeFlavis Tirella.
He retired as insurance claims manager. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis, and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Charlene Smith Tirella of Carrollton; sons, Dr. Michael H. Tirella of Northville, N.Y., Charles P Tirella Jr. of Lancaster, Pa., and Robert L. Tirella of Carrollton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan D. Tirella.
The family will have a private funeral service Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Almon Funeral Home in Carrollton, at 9 a.m. with Father Rafael Carbello officiating. The American Legion Post 143 will present the American flag to the family.
In accordance with his family’s wishes his body will be cremated and a burial will follow at a later date.
