Choice Hotels International has acquired the Jameson Inn in Carrollton and has changed the name to Quality Inn.

Choice has more than 6,200 hotels and 495,000 rooms. The Quality Inn will be managed by Aimbridge Hospitality, a hotel and real estate management company based in Dallas, Tex.

“I have no doubts that Quality Inn will be a huge success in Carrollton,” said General Manager Laura Armstrong, general manager. “We have a great hotel in an excellent location and we’re proud to be flying the Choice Hotels flag.”

Armstrong said the new Quality Inn has kept the “same great staff” that worked at Jameson Inn.

“Some of the employees here, such as Sheila Bonner, head housekeeper, have been here since the hotel opened in February, 1994,” she said.

The Carrollton Quality Inn on South Park Street has 59 guest rooms, swimming pool and fitness center, and features complimentary hot breakfast, guest laundry, free Internet service, 37-inch flat panel TVs in all rooms and free local phone calls. The hotel is pet friendly, with a $15 fee charged for each pet.

Choice Hotels International franchises hotels in the United States and more than 30 other countries and territories. As of Sept. 30, in addition to its 6,200 hotels, the company has 360 hotels, representing about 7,000 rooms, now under construction, awaiting conversion or approved for development in 20 other countries and territories.

The company’s brands include Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Sleep Inn, Clarion, Cambria Suites, MainStay Suites, Suburban Extended Stay Hotel, Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn. Choice, via its Ascend Collection membership program, gives travelers upscale lodging options in historic, boutique and unique hotels.

Choice Hotels was established in 1941 under the name Quality Courts United by a group of Florida motel owners who decided they could be more successful by pooling their efforts and helping each other fill their rooms. Over the years, more hotels joined the system.

Choice Hotels said it was the first to guarantee reservations, offer 24-hour desk service, in-room telephones and 24-hour, toll-free reservations.

The company operates under its “Room for Responsibility” corporate program, taking responsibility for a commitment to the communities where its properties are located.
