Clarence Edward “Eddie” Martin of Sylacauga, Ala., passed away Monday, October 22, 2012, in a Birmingham, Ala., hospital. He was born in Sylacauga County, Ala., September 18, 1944, son of the late Leland Martin and Emma Sparks Pruitt.

Mr. Martin was a former employee of the Norfolk Southern Railroad and a veteran of the U. S. Army.

Survivors include children, Shane and Karen Martin of Kansas, Shawn and Tina Martin of Temple, Cindy Ervin of Tallapoosa, Heather Crews of Buchanan; a sister, Sybil and James Maddox of Sylacauga, Ala.; brothers, Donald Martin of Bowdon Junction, Tony and Cindy Pruitt of Temple; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m.

Services will be Thursday, October 25, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Reverend Don Evans and Reverend Rodney Wilburn officiating. Zachary Pruitt, Leon Ross, Andy Estvanko, Chris Morgan and Ricky Smith will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs with military honors.
