The father of six children, Dave’s family will forever appreciate his love, sacrifices, support, patience, and discipline for life-long lessons. Dave “paid his fatherly dues” over the years serving in such capacities as a president of a PTA, youth football coach, and driver/audience member to many children and grandchildren events.
Having lived in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Florida, Dave and his wife, Nancy relocated to Georgia in 1998 to be closer to family. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Fairfield Plantation and Carroll County Community Chorus; and he worked in part-time positions for the Carrollton, Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Division as well as St. Andrews Country Club and Oak Mountain Championship Golf Course. Dave enjoyed golf so much that he was a twenty-year volunteer for the Masters Golf Tournament and served as a handicap rater for golf courses in South Florida during his retirement years in Naples. Not many golfers get to see Augusta National yet alone play it; Dave played it 15 times! A devout Catholic, Dave was a lector and Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, of 64 years, Dave is survived by his six children: sons, David A Lewis Jr. (Sue) of Pittsgrove, N.J.; Dan Lewis (Penny) of Carrollton; and Douglas Lewis (Allison) of Roxbury, Conn.; and daughters, Gail Lewis (Michael Godkin) of Auburn, Mass., Debbie Conyers of Roswell, Ga. and Christine Lakso (Darin) of Norcross, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, Erin Fuller, Brenden Lewis, Jeffrey Lewis (Jayne), Craig Lewis, Meagan Lewis Mapson (Jeff), Jessica Conyers, Leslie Lewis Walbert (Harold), Christopher Lewis, Brian Lewis, Amanda Lewis, Brad Conyers, Rachel Lakso; and three great-grandchildren, Aidan Leurdijk, Colin Leurdijk, and Blair Lewis.
