Mr. Wortham was born on January 9, 1932, in Randolph County, Alabama, to the late John and Annie Thrasher Wortham. He retired from Douglas and Lomason Company after 30 years of service and was a member of Union Baptist Church in Wedowee, Alabama.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Randall and Darrell Wortham; his brothers, Lee and Jay Wortham; and his grandson, Matthew McLeod.
Survivors include his wife, Effie Mae Wortham; his son, Zachery McLeod; his brother, Chester McLeod; his sisters, Trudie Barron and Ann Shears; his granddaughter, Wendy Wyatt; and his great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Wyatt and Zoie Wardlaw.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 20, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Rainwater Funeral Home. Rev. Eugene Robinson and Rev. Gary Stewart will officiate. Ashley Wortham will provide the music. Pallbearers will be Wayne Wortham, Jackie Wortham, Eugene Wortham, Scott Wortham, Kirk McLeod, Bill Thrasher, Danny Buchanan, and Dr. Matt McCord. Interment will follow the funeral services and Union Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m.
