Mr. Jerald T. Keene, 76, of Carrollton, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013. He was born Feb. 18, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Theodore Keene and Sylvia Palm Keene.

Mr. Keene served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force and was a 50-year member of the Howard Masonic Lodge No. 68 in Mobile, Ala. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated Metro Collection service in Carrollton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Keene, and a daughter, Kim Keene White.

Survivors include his loving wife, Betty J. Keene; children Susan Whitworth of Marietta, Byron and Daphne Keene of Newnan, Kyle Keene of Newnan, Janey and Joel Galloway of Jacksonville, Fla., and Melissa Keene of Arkansas; sister-in-law, Mary Green of Dothan, Ala.; grandchildren Jared, Josh and Jennifer White, Bryan, Maggie and Hannah Whitworth, Dylan, Zach and Darby Keene and Alex and Cameron Keene; also surviving are two nieces and two nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Gentry and the Rev. Jack Gantt officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Tanner Hospice Care, 101 Clinic Ave., Carrollton, GA 30117.
