Mr. Tarpley was born April 18, 1943, the son of the late Frank Leo Tarpley and Dora Dyer Tarpley. He was a retired Shift Supervisor with the Owens Illinois Company and was Baptist by faith. Mr. Tarpley was a Master Mason at the Jonesboro Lodge #87 F& AM and was a founding member of the Golden City Cruiser Car Club. He enjoyed antiques cars and hotrods, especially owning a 1940 Ford and most recently his beloved 1955 Chevrolet. He was a skilled wood worker and enjoyed spending time in his barn.
Mr. Tarpley is survived by his loving companion of over 20 years, Gail Turner; three sons and daughters-in-laws, Scott and Anita Tarpley, Bowling Green, Ky., Jeff and Cindy Tarpley, Stockbridge, Ga., Jason Tarpley, Stockbridge, Ga, his campanion’s son, Jason Turner, Villa Rica; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and John Day, Valdosta, Ga., Sandra and Wayne Tolleson, Snellville, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Judi Tarpley, Woodstock, Ga.; two grandchildren, Joshua and Jordon. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his family he is survived by his beloved dogs, Mojo and Dottie.
He was proceeded in death by one sister, Sherry Manning, and infant daughter, Tina Marie Tarpley.
Graveside Services will be conducted Monday, December 3, 2012, at 1 p.m. from Forrest Hills Memorial Park, 722 Conley Road, Forrest Park, GA 30297. Pallbearers will be Danny Davis, Harris Johnson, Phil Brown, Robbie Gibson, William Dobbs, and Matt Carrens. The Golden City Cruisers Car Club will provide an Honorary Escort.
