The Golden Knights (14-10, 3-0) took Saturday's doubleheader with 7-1 and 9-2 wins before completing the sweep with a 10-2 victory on Sunday afternoon.
WGTC got solid performances from Ashley Parker, Casey Bucy and Kat Moreno who had six hits each over the weekend. The big hit, however, belonged to Moreno who hit her first career home run on Sunday — a grand slam.
Casey Bucy carried the Golden Knights with her arm as she picked up complete game victories in the first and third games of the series while Kat Boyd got the win in Saturday's second game.
"This weekend was a great weekend for us,” WGTC coach Stephanie Herrera said. “It was imperative that we pick up these three conference wins against KSU and we got it done. This was a great confidence builder for us. We are facing some tough competition this week with Reinhardt, Darton and Gordon. These kids have heart, you can put them against the best competition and they'll give you 110 percent.”
Up next for the Golden Knights is a doubleheader Thursday at Reinhardt University before returning home for a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Gordon College on Friday.
