A strong end to a banner regular season for the University of West Georgia volleyball team got an even bigger push, as two Wolves earned Gulf South Conference Player of the Week honors.

The Wolves (15-14, 10-6 GSC) finished the regular season with a sweep of Union, North Alabama and Christian Brothers this weekend to take the No. 3 seed into the conference tournament in Pensacola, Fla., this weekend.

In those matches, Lesley Bemis and Emily Reul's performances stood out above the rest.

Reul, a junior out of California, leads the GSC in kills per set with 3.99 and points per set at 4.45, but showed off her defensive skills as the GSC Defensive Player of the Week. In the three games, she averaged 3.73 digs per set and had at least 10 digs a game with 17 in a sweep of Union.

It was Reul's second player of the week honors, as she was tabbed for her offensive player earlier in the season.

Bemis, a junior from Birmingham, Ala., started the weekend with an 11-kill, five-block effort against Union, then had 13 kills and nine blocks against UNA and finished the weekend with 10 kills, three blocks and three aces against Christian Brothers.

Along with their honors for their play this week, the pair were also named to the All-GSC teams for the year.

Reul was named to the first team, while Bemis was named to the second team.

The Wolves will open the GSC Tournament against sixth-seeded Alabama-Huntsville at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
