The Editor: Jim Watters entered the 4th District County Commissioner race because he felt he could bring new and better ideas for solving Carroll County’s problems. He wanted to make a difference that would allow Carroll County to be an even better place to live.

Thank you, Jim, for all the time, effort and considerable personal expense you expended to give us a viable choice for this public office. You always took the high road and you finished with dignity. You earned the admiration and respect of many people.

Jim, you really did win in the end. You taught a lot of us what district we live in and you taught an astounding 1,224 people how to properly vote for a write-in candidate! You have made a big difference because the competition will force John Wilson to be a better and more thoughtful commissioner. His constituents will be expecting him to be a lot more responsive to our concerns and requests. It truly has turned out to be a win-win situation!
