Mr. Lester Warren, 83, of Carrollton, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012. He was born May 3, 1929 in Clem, Ga., the son of the late Ben Warren and Eunice Caldwell Warren.

Mr. Warren was owner and operator of Warren Auto Repair for many years and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 until 1956. He was a wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather, and he loved his family dearly.

Lester enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Growing tomatoes was one of his favorite hobbies as well as “tinkering” on anything. His favorite food was Opal’s biscuits, which she cooked for him, happily, for 59 years.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Opal Barnes Warren; children, Cindy & David Gilley of Carrollton, Ga., and Dennis & Candy Warren of Guyton, Ga.; brother-in-law, Rayford Barnes of Wedowee, Ala.; grandchildren, Heather Gilley of Newnan, Ga., Blake & Erin Gilley of Alpharetta, Ga., and Hunter Warren of Guyton, Ga.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Dr. Steve Davis officiating. Pallbearers will be James Boone, Arthur Boone, Tommy Barnes, Hulett Jiles, Dennis McDowell and Ricky Greathouse. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Sanders, Vernon Ricks, Charlie Gilley and Benji Barnes. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens with military honors.
