He was born in Carrollton, Georgia, on October 26, 1938, to W. Ralph Burson Sr. and Winnie Douglas Burson. Bill was a graduate of Carrollton High School, class of 1956 and then graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1961. After being a co-op student, he continued working at Southwire Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1992. He spent the next six years working at Halstead Industries in Arkansas.
Bill was an avid hunter, boater, and runner. After retiring the second time, he also enjoyed tinkering with his motorcycle and antique car and dabbling around the Charleston area.
Bill is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Georgia Gaffney Burson; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Kevin Callaway; and granddaughters Katie and Maggie of Newnan, Georgia. He is also survived by a brother, David Burson (Nancy); and niece, Anita (Clint) Thompson, and their daughters, Avery and Reagan of Carrollton, Georgia.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Winnie Burson, and in-laws, Joe and Thelma Gaffney.
Bill will be remembered for his quiet, kind nature and wonderful sense of humor.
