The was removed from the agenda, according to City Manager Perry Hicks, because the city would like Carroll County to revise a portion of their agreement that references the intergovernmental service delivery.
“We’ve asked Carroll County to address some issues with the Fire Protection Service Delivery Agreement,” Hicks said.
Since the city provides its own fire protection services, Bremen has asked Carroll County to alter the service delivery agreement to reflect that and compensate the city for providing their own services in the capacity. This would slightly increasing the LOST revenue the city currently is set to receive in the contract.
“We’ve asked them to make these changes, and so we are just waiting on that before we move forward,” Hicks said.
Also during the meeting, the board did pass two resolutions.
The first approved an updated zoning map of the city, which was created by the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission. Their were no changes to the city’s zoning, the map only updates previous zoning changes.
The new map will be available at City Hall as well as on the city’s web site.
The council also approved Steve McIntosh’s appointment to the Board of Appeals for a two-year term, which will end on Dec. 31, 2014. This appointment replaces Richard Gilespie’s expired term.
In other news, the city is planning to renew its contract with Waste Industries of Douglasville. The city will have the option to renew its current contract, which includes household garbage pick up, or expand the services they purchase to include recycling.
If the city chooses to include recycling, it will have the option either weekly curbside pick up for both household trash and recycling or curbside pickup for household trash with a centralized convenience site for residents to drop off their recycling.
Hicks says the city is considering all options and is currently negotiating with Waste Industry on pricing options.
The next city council meeting will be on Monday, Dec. 10, due to the Christmas holiday.
