Buren “Buddy” Lanier, 72, had been missing for several days, said Capt. Jeff Richards of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. He was reported missing Thursday by his sister, but Richards said he had been missing for a couple of days before then.
“He had been known to leave and be gone for a couple of days,” Richards said.
The body was found in a wooded area, probably about 100 yards behind the Lanier home, Richards said.
“Apparently, there was a trail he liked to walk,” Richards said.
The body was discovered by a relative.
Richards said there was no obvious cause of death, and that an autopsy will be performed.
