Mrs. Lydia Attaway McEwen of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away on January 2, 2013. She was 85.

Mrs. McEwen was born on October 29, 1927, in Coweta County, Georgia, to the late Elisha and Mary “Love” Jones Attaway.

She was a graduate of Bowdon High School and Carroll Tech. She retired from Kmart and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She loved quilting and crocheting. She will, however, be remembered most as a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harley, Jack, Paul, Dan, and David Attaway.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Ansel L. McEwen of Bowdon; her sisters, Faye Runyan of Lusk, Wyoming, and Nancy McCarty of Birmingham, Alabama; her children and their spouses, Leonard and Gail McEwen of Carrollton, Jack and Jerri McEwen of Buchanan, and Michael and Stephanie McEwen of Waco; her granddaughters and their spouses, Jennifer McEwen and Paul Lundin, Leah McEwen and Myron Pierce, Michelle McEwen, and Nicole McEwen; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. Rev. Donald Voyles and Rev. Myles Brown will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mack Grizzard, Tony Grizzard, Jerry Searcy, Paul Lundin, Myron Pierce, Steve McEwen, Donnie McEwen and Buster McEwen. Honorary pallbearers will be John Smith, Glenn Barrett, and Don Schmidt. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Prior to the service, Mrs. McEwen’s body will be placed in the church from 2:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 5, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m.
