Mrs. Tice was born in Taylor County, Georgia, on April 3, 1926, the daughter of the late Otis Stewart and Jewell Almon Stewart.
She spent the majority of her career in the life insurance industry and was a retired Accounting Manager with Primerica where she worked for more than 12 years. Mrs. Tice had many hobbies throughout her life. She enjoyed arts and crafts and handcrafted many ornaments, decorations and wreaths over the years. In addition she was a fabulous cook, often catering events and always feeding her family and neighbors. She loved to pass on her cooking secrets to her children and grandchildren and left behind a legacy of great recipes. Throughout her life she was a confidant to others, always listening and offering her wisdom. She continued that while she was at Cottage Landing, both with the staff, and her resident neighbors. She had a gift for meeting and befriending people and she truly saw others for who they were. She was quick-witted, thoughtful and wise and knew what she wanted out of life.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Tice Hoffman and John F. Hoffman of Lawrenceville; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael S. and Susan B. Tice of Carrollton, Timothy A. and Vickie J. Tice of Dacula, Andy E. Tice of Houston, Texas. Affectionately known as “Nannie,” Mrs. Tice will be missed by her six grandchildren, Michelle and Michael Williamson, Chris Chesowsky, Stephanie and T.J. Parten, Erin and Chris Ward, Jeremie and Stephanie Tice and Kevin Michael Tice; and five great-grandchildren, Lauren and Hailey Williamson, Kendal Parten, Khoen Parten and Trenton Tice. She is also survived by a niece and several cousins.
She adored her family and liked nothing better than spending time talking with them, celebrating holidays together with a banquet she labored over with love and listening to her son sing to her.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Michael Tice, and one sister, Margaret S. Hagan.
A memorial service will be conducted Friday, January 25, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service.
