Eagles fall to SW Atlanta Christian

The Mt. Zion High School boys’ basketball team placed four scorers in double figures on Friday night, but it couldn’t overcome Southwest Atlanta Christian in suffering a 57-53 Region 6A-A home loss.

Corey Loftin led the Eagles with 13 points, while T.K. Tuggle, Nathan Bernhardt and Cohen Pannell all posted 10 points.

In other prep basketball action:

Oak Mountain Academy girls 32, Trinity Christian 30:
On Thursday night, the Lady Warriors got 13 points from Jordan Francis, while Anna Lane Tinsley added seven.

Carrollton JV boys 68, Creekside 26: On Tuesday, the Trojans (13-2) erupted to a 43-8 halftime lead, with Cooper Criswell burying four 3-pointers in the opening 16 minutes. Willie Byrd led Carrollton with 20 points in the rout. The Trojans return to action today against Fayette County.

Carrollton Junior High girls 43, Haralson County 32: The Lady Trojans were led offensively by A’Dasia Hendricks with 12 points, while Ansley Barge added 11 points on Thursday night. In Tuesday’s 48-30 win over Heard County, Erial Daniel led the way with 15 points, followed by Barge with 14.

Carrollton Junior High boys 54, Haralson County 17: The Trojans were led by Robert Simmons with 11 points in Thursday’s win, with LaDamian Hunt adding eight points.

Mt. Zion Middle School boys 71, Heard County 34: The Eagles (10-1) got a 22-point performance from C.J. Ackles, while Christian Corn posted 16 points and Brian Turner added 10.

Bay Springs Middle School boys 60, Temple 39: The Bobcats were led by Jayland Alphabet with 17 points in the final game of the regular season.

Bay Springs MS girls 34, Temple 25: The Lady Bobcats got an 11-point effort from Olamide Olajubutu in the victory.
