Cleveland M. Green, 84, of Temple, formerly of Howell, N.J., died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013. He was born on June 22, 1928, to the late Louis Green and Pattie Davis Green.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he ranked as Sergeant First Class E7. He was a member of the American Legion Post #143 and the Kiwanis Club. Mr. Green worked 34 1/2 years at Earle Naval Weapons Station first in pest control, then as a deputy equal employment opportunity specialist.

He was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church of Red Bank, N.J., and after marrying his bride became a member of the Church of the Master United Methodist Church of Howell, N.J. Most recently he was a member of Villa Rica First United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Green, and a daughter, Valerie Ann Hooks.

Survivors include his wife Mary Montgomery Green of Temple; daughter, Patricia Ann Green of Temple; and brother, Lawrence T. Green of Douglasville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 2, at noon at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel in Carrollton with Rev. James Smith and Rev. Derek Porter officiating. Music will be by Katie Fowler. The American Legion Post #143 will make a flag presentation.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 10 .m. to 1noon.

In accordance with the family’s wishes the body will be cremated following the service.
