Mrs. Connie Washburn, 73, of Villa Rica died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013.

Mrs. Washburn was born Nov. 7, 1939 ,in Jefferson County, Ala., the daughter of the late Robert McWhorter and the late Muriel Edmonds Bowen. She worked a majority of her life in the printing and engraving industry. After retirement she worked for a number of years as secretary for Smyrna United Methodist Church in Dallas. She was a member of The Mourning Glories and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Cathy Washburn, Decatur; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Larry Thaxton, Douglasville; sister, Frances Perkins, Pinson, Ala.; and nine grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Derward Washburn.

Funeral services will Sunday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Kersey and Rev. Steve Griggers officiating. Burial will follow the service in Meadowbrooke Memory Gardens with misters Dale Chester, Jeff Lynn, Ernie Moore, Daniel Sheats and Jimmy Cox serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers those desiring may make a contribution to The Marcus Stroke and Neuroscience Center at Grady Memorial Hospital or to Cornerstone Baptist Church.
