Mr. David William Long, 65, of Franklin, passed away in Kennestone Hospital on Saturday, March 2, 2013. Mr. Long was born in Ellijay, Ga., on Jan. 15, 1948, the son of the late Mr. Bunyun Clifford Long and the late Mrs. Annie Lee Painter Long. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Patricia Hutchins.

He loved God and country. An affectionate and fun-loving person, Mr. Long enjoyed drag-racing and being with his family. He was a retired mechanic after working at Long’s Service Center in Villa Rica and later was an integral part of D&P Nursery, also in Villa Rica.

Mr. Long was survived by his wife of 45 years, Mrs. Cora Ann Ethridge Long of Franklin; two sons and daughters-in-law, “Daniel” William and Penny Long and Quinn “Allen” and Debra Long, all of Carrollton; one grandchild, Marissa Lea Long of Carrollton; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Henry Thomas of LaGrange, Linda and Fred Welch of Lithia Springs and Joyce and Robert Sosbee of Austell; three brothers and sister-in-law, Kenneth Long, Clifford and Carol Long, and Donald Long, all of Douglasville.

In accordance with his wishes, his body was cremated.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, at the J Collins Funeral Home with Mr. Keith Long officiating.
