He served in the U.S. Army, worked as a master mechanic with the city of Atlanta for years and then drove a truck driver for Wayne Davis Concrete.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Adrian Lanning, and two grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Cannon Lanning; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Tina Lanning; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Khia Lanning; daughter, Michelle Lanning; daughter-in-law, Melody Lanning; sister, Mary Ingram from Paulding County; brother and sister-in-law, George and Donna Lanning of Hiram; nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 9, at 11 a.m. at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel in Carrollton with Rev. Anthony Puckett and Rev. Phillip Morris officiating. Pallbearers will be Roger Culberson, Randy Culberson, Timmy Hammonds, Tony Hammonds, Ronnie Thompson, Steven Bridges, James Hamptom, and Larry Huddleston. The flag will be presented by the United States Army during the flag-folding ceremony.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 8, from 5 to 9 p.m.
