The West Georgia Technical College baseball team dropped an 8-2 road loss to South Georgia College on Tuesday in the series opener, with the remainder of the four-game set playing out in Douglasville this weekend.

The Golden Knights (11-11, 1-4) were out-hit, 13-7, by South Georgia (10-14-1), though they managed to build a 2-1 lead entering the bottom of the fifth. South Georgia scored three in the fifth to take the two-run lead, then added a single run in the seventh and three more in the eighth to put the game away.

Blake Butcher (2-for-4) and Hudson Power (2-for-4) led the Golden Knights at the plate, while Sean Watson (1-for-4) homered in the third.

West Georgia Tech and South Georgia will complete the series with a single game on Friday and a twin bill Saturday, all in Douglasville.
