Bruce Franklin McGahee, age 79, of Whitesburg, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013. He was born February 14, 1934 in Austell, to the late David Jackson McGahee and Alice Mulkey McGahee.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, the Korean War Conflict and worked as an electronic technician for the Federal Aviation Administration, at the Charlie Brown Airport. He was a member of the Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta.

In addition to his parents, David Jackson McGahee and Alice Mulkey McGahee, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Horace Stephen “H.S.” McGahee, and David McGahee; and sister, Inez Pickens.

Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Sibbie McGahee; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Ila Luttrell of North Carolina; siters-in-law, Tiney Lancaster and Margie Lancaster; grandchildren, Jeremy Luttrell and Tracey Luttrell; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Harley and Brayden. Also surviving are Ruby Spinks, Frances and Cleo Willis, Clara Whitaker, Barbara Preister, Larry and Linda Lancaster and David Lancaster and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Friday, March 15, 2013, at 2 p.m. from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Powers officiating. Interment will follow in the West Georgia Memorial Park with the presentation of Navy Honors. Pallbearers will be Barry Reese, Wayne Spinks, Tim Chaffin, Paul Schmidt, Tommy Holland and Jeremy Luttrell.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 14, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
