The Haralson County Fire Department is searching for information on three men in connection to a suspicious fire at a Bremen home last Saturday.
On the morning of Aug. 9, deputies from the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office responded to an alleged burglary on Reed Road in Bremen. According to Fire Chief Brian Walker, a neighbor at an adjacent property was awakened by his dogs and investigated the situation, which caused the alleged burglars to flee.
Three men, described as a white male, a black male and a third unknown man, were seen leaving the scene of the crime in a white pickup truck. According to reports, the passenger side door of the truck has dents resembling bird shot patterns on it and a burnt out tail light on the passenger side.
Before leaving, the men had allegedly removed copper wiring and a hot water heater from the house. Shortly after Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, flames were seen burning in the house and the Haralson County Fire Department responded to the fire around 3 a.m. The Bremen Fire Department also aided in putting out the fire.
According to Walker, it is too early to definitively rule the fire as an arson; however, it has been designated a suspicious fire. There is a reward being offered by the Georgia Arson Control Program for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for arson. Residents who have information on the Reed Road fire or the three men can contact the County Fire Department at 770-646-4036.
The Haralson County Fire Department, the Tallapoosa Fire Department and the Carroll County Fire Department also responded to a two-story garage fire on Plunkett Road in Buncombe. The fire was ruled accidental and no injuries were reported.
Sunday morning, the Haralson County Fire Department responded to a house fire on Jacksonville Road. According to Walker, the resident was asleep while a small fire started in the home. However, the resident’s dogs woke him up and he was able to vacate the building and call emergency services. According to Walker, no firefighters were injured in any of the three fires.
