Winston’s Sean Rayhall captured the Young Lions points championship during the Thursday Thunder feature races at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

He won Thursday night’s final race of 10 this season — his seventh victory — and comfortably defeated fellow Winston racer Mason Massey for the title. Rayhall ended up with 991 points this season to Massey’s 952.

“It’s a great way to end the season,” said Rayhall, 15, a sophomore at Heirway Christian Academy in Douglasville. “I put a lot of hard work into this. I’m looking forward to getting back on the track next season.”

Rayhall, who has been racing since he was 8, also looks forward to winning his division in the Kangaroo Express Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where he has four wins this season. All he has to do to wrap up that championship is complete one lap in his next race.
